Integrated Photonics Receives Certification for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive
Hillsborough, New Jersey, February 7, 2006 –
Integrated Photonics, Inc., a leading provider of optical materials,
announced today that its thick film Faraday rotator products are in
full compliance with the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous
Substances (RoHS) directive. This directive (2002/95/EC), which
affects manufacturers, sellers, and distributors of electrical and
electronic equipment and components, is designed to protect the
environment and human health through the restriction of certain
hazardous substances in new equipment.
All of Integrated Photonics’ thick film Faraday rotator products
(FLT, FLM, FLL and MGL) have been separately third-party tested for
lead, mercury, cadmium and total chromium (all valences) and were
certified to have levels below the maximum permitted levels allowed by
the RoHS directive. This enables our customers to manufacture fully
RoHS-compliant optical isolators, circulators, and other passive
optical devices based on our Faraday rotators.
Integrated Photonics’ certification is well in advance of the July
1, 2006 deadline, assuring our customers that they will be able to meet
their production requirements while maintaining their competitive
advantage in the international marketplace. Moreover, our Faraday
rotator products have always been compliant with the RoHS directive,
eliminating the need for customers to inventory and track separately
“green” compliant products from “brown” non-compliant products.
Integrated Photonics will be exhibiting at the Optical Fiber
Communication Conference & Exposition and the National Fiber Optic
Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC) in Anaheim, California, March 7-9, 2006. We invite you to visit us at booth number 3433. For additional information, please contact Sales@IntegratedPhotonics.com or visit us on the web at http://www.integratedphotonics.com.
